Two movies over the weekend.
The first one, Tadpole, probably wasn’t near as good as it seemed; the running commentary we had going on during the film it made it great. That, and it’s probably every guy’s Oedipus-like dream to have slept with a 40 year old woman when he was 15. freaky.
The other, Nurse Betty, was just strange. Overall, it was really dumb... However, I think there may have been about 20 or 30 seconds of greatness somewhere in it (when Morgan Freeman is standing in the Grand Canyon was a pretty damned good scene). Unfortunately, I don’t think I have the stomach or the patience to see it again and find out.
Up later on this week: Godard’s Alphaville. I have been waiting about 7 years to see this movie, and try as I might, I don’t think it will be nearly as good as I want it to be. we’ll see.
