We went and saw star trek: nemesis over the on it’s opening night on friday. Gotta say, not a bad little movie. I went in expecting the worst, having painful memories of Star Trek: Insurrection (boy did that suck). But, it seems like all the witty one-liners from the last movie had been removed, and they fleshed out a pretty good story. Lots of action, and not the most predictable ending. (I was thinking it was going to end differently, anyway) all in all, not too bad. I was bummed that they cut wil wheaton out of it. Even whoopi had a line in the movie. he just sat there. And from his blog, it sounds like he kinda got shafted on seeing the premier.
We picked a pretty good theater to go see it in, out in Oakland. With out sounding like too much of a dick, they were playing 2 screens of drumline and j-lo’s new movie. so it would seem the local population isn’t to concerned with star trek, and it was actually pretty empty.
It was fun, though. There were people from the local chapter of star trek super-fans dressed up as Klingons, and in Starfleet uniforms. Oh, and there was one dude that came as a Bajoran (of all the aliens to dress up as, why on earth would some guy want to be a Bajoran?).
But it was fun, and the people that dressed up got up infront of the screen and sang some klingon blood song before the movie started.
