So, I guess like everyone else, I tend to keep parts of my past in boxes. For whatever reason, this week I decided it was time to start going through some of them, and getting rid of some of the old stuff.
In doing this, I came across several really nice surprises; one of them being this note from my grandmother:
6-9-95
Dear Barclay,
I wish I could speak and write eloquently so I could tell you just how proud I am of you and how much I love you. Anyway here is a poem I learned early in life that is my feeling for a good life—
“Better than grandeur,
Better than gold,
Than rank and file a thousand fold,
Is a healthy body,
A mind at ease,
And simple pleasures,
That always please”
I know you are a good person and that’s why I love you so much.
Best wishes always,
Love Gram.
I miss you so much, grandma.
