I want a TiVo. And what’s worse, it looks like I might even be buying it from my nemesis, AT&T, so it will work with that damned digital cable box.
if there’s anyway I can afford it for Christmas (like say, quitting eating between now and then…) I’m going to buy myself one.
I don’t know why this seems like a good idea to me; I don’t even like TV.
But maybe that’s just it. Maybe I believe that by getting a TiVo it will make the lowest common denominator of public entertainment, television, some how better.
Now, the sensible part of my brain knows better, it knows that it won’t make a damned bit of difference. television will continue to suck. They’ll keep making shows like “friends” and “just shoot me”; and they’ll continue to cancel all the interesting shows—but, at least with a TiVo, I won’t miss the last season of farscape. (when is that damned show even on?)
