So I’ll go ahead and admit to you all one of my new guilty pleasures: Fox’s “Fastlane” (I'd link to the fox site, but it's gone).
I freaking love this show, and unfortunately, I think it was canceled (figures—like too many things, I was late to the party on this one, too.).
In case you don’t know the premise of the show, it’s got Bill Bellamy (you know bill, he was a vj on mtv) and Tiffany “Dropped-the-Amber” Thiessen who was by far the hottest chic on saved by the bell. (I think she also did soft-core and then 90210, or Melrose place, or something like that—I don’t know). There’s also a white guy (“I wanna be Ethan Hawk”, I think his name is), and for 45 minutes or so, this cast of 3 are cops (or something) and they go and race fancy cars, crash things and blow stuff up.
It’s got to be just about the best mindless entertainment I’ve ever seen. It is absolute crap, and I love it.
There’s liberal amounts of slow motion, and popular music infused in to the show (the pilot even had depeche mode playing while the white guy was having sex with the ex-crackwhore), giving it a real “mtv,-(when-it-used-to-show-music-videos)” feel.
and I feel kinda bad—not because it’s the worst kind of trash tv—but because I never actually watched it when it was on. Thanks to Bit Torrent though, I’ve downloaded most of the episodes, and can hook the laptop up to the tv and watch them that way.
The quality of the mpegs on Bit Torrent is surprisingly good (each one is about 400mb or so), and I really can’t tell the difference between them and normal television.
Thanks. I feel so much better now that we were able to share that.
