I was driving down 237 today, when it struck me just how desolate it is out here. It’s bad. I really am living in ground-zero.
I mean, I know this. I’ve known this for some time, even—it’s taken me the better part of 7 months to find a job.
But as I was driving down 237 tonight, it struck me all over again.
A few years ago, you’d be nuts to try and drive down 237 at 5:15pm. Where as tonight, I went from the 880/237 intersection in Milpitas, all the way down to the 237/101 intersection in Sunnyvale and my speed never dipped below 70mph.
And as you’re driving down what was once a ridiculously desirable Silicon Valley location, you’ll notice that every other building along the hwy has a For Lease sign on it. There are literally dozens and dozens of empty buildings just sitting there looking like ghosts.
Strange. Very strange.
