So… as of last week, I officially gave notice at America Online. It’s been a little over a year since the acquisition of Mailblocks by AOL.
And, I know, I haven’t been writing in that time… So what happened?
Well, first we launched AOL Webmail. Based (loosely) on the Mailblocks code-base, we built a pretty sophisticated DHTML/CSS webmail app for AOL. A little after that, we also set it up to be re-branded for AIM Mail (AOL’s new free email offering) and Netcenter (Netscape’s webmail).
It was pretty exciting to be playing with audience numbers the size that AOL has. It was also extremely difficult to integrate our little start-up into a large organization.
While there, I moved into a UI role, and worked on other projects (Favorites Plus, My AOL RSS). Both of which were interesting projects… but, frankly, not quite there yet.
So where will I be going? To an interesting start-up here in the valley, with a few ex-Mailblocks folks.
Should be pretty interesting.
