blog updates

so you may have noticed some changes to the blog. (all 3 people that read it)

not being able to sleep last night, i’ve re-written most of it. As I slowly learn more about XHTML and “real” CSS, I’m rolling it over here. while the current incarnation of it doesn’t validate yet, it will soon.

surprisingly enough, one of my biggest issues to validation encoding the & to & in all of my queryStrings. I have to say I think that’s really kinda dumb. (Why do you need to encode & in the qS? What’s the benefit?) but… whatever.

one of the other new features in today’s release is the calendar located in the upper right. It shows what days have blog entries, as well as what today is. It was pretty interesting to build; my first use of UDF (user defined functions) in coldFusion <cfscript>.

i wanted to just bogart it from somewhere else, but i couldn’t find any free coldFusion calendar code available. there were a few, but they were all like $40. So, later on tonight (hopefully, but more than likely not til tomorrow, tomorrow), i’ll release the source code that makes it work. maybe someone else can get some use out of it.
