blog info

After taking the comments down more than two weeks ago, I’ve finally done some massive restructuring to both the blog database and the comments database, and for that matter, the blog application as a whole.

Look for the changes to roll out both here, and on gary’s site in the next day or three. Many, many little things have been fixed; the calendar along the top will finally work right, blog notifications and the RSS feed will also be fixed (I noticed a couple weeks ago when amy and gary were going comment crazy—which was awesome—that the notifications went out of control; for every comment you left, a separate notification email was sent. Some 70 email notifications later, I got the clue. How rookie was that? Sorry guys.)

After I roll it out here, I’ll also finally be publishing the source, if anyone wants it.

UPDATE: I have finally updated made the "official" update to monkeyType 1.01. This means newer, better database schemas, and some all around nice fixes. I was also able to migrate all the existing comments back over. enjoy!

UPDATE, UPDATE: You might also notice that I’ve put the RSS feed back up on the right. There’s a slight problem with both it, and my XHTML validation due to the copy-paste nature of Word’s “Curly Quotes”. There’s several conversations going on across the web right now on if they (smart quotes, em-dashes, etc.) should be kept or not… myself, I’ve yet to decide or do anything. So for the time being, the site is going to be filled with illegal characters, until I take the time to write the code to either fix them, or replace them….
